Welcome Fáilte
Welcome to Scoil Naomh Muire.
We are located in Farran, part of Ovens parish just west of Cork city.
Scoil Naomh Muire is a co-educational primary school, and we are proud to include special classes for children with a diagnosis of autism. We operate as a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Cork and Ross.
The current school was opened in 1962 and was extended in 1981. In more recent years the school was extended in August 2013 to incorporate our special classes, “Nead na Coille.” Further necessary extensions took place in August 2017 and again in September 2022 to provide additional classrooms and amenities for our expanding student and staff body.
At our core is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where teaching and learning thrive. We are committed to doing our very best for every child, aiming to maximise their talents and provide them with diverse opportunities across sporting, scientific, environmental, and cultural activities. Through the incredible support of our Board of Management, Parents Association, and dedicated staff, we continuously foster the spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social development of all our pupils within a secure and happy environment.
Our school motto, “Discover, Achieve, Belong,” inspires us to ensure inclusion is central to everything we do. We strive to provide quality teaching and learning at Scoil Naomh Muire, Farran, always prioritizing the wellbeing of our entire school community.

“This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase interactive screens for classrooms as well as a set of Ipads for our special classes, per the criteria outlined in circular 0060/2021).”
